One Reason Businesses Don't Support the Arts

Can you guess the number one reason businesses don't support the arts? Because they were never asked. That's according to a recent report published by Americans for the Arts. 
Here's some more interesting food for thought:
* 47% of business support for the comes from companies with less than $1 million in     revenues; and 35% comes from companies between $1 and $49 million.
* The top 3 reasons businesses support the arts are: 
     - Improving the quality of life in the community (54%)
     - Arts help create a vibrant community and society (49%)
     - Arts organizations offer education initiatives that benefit the community (47%)
* What would prompt businesses to contribute more?
    -  Improved business profitability (72%)
    - Active arts education programs and outreach to the disadvantaged (69%)
    - If they could support other social causes through the arts (64%)
* What are the benefits of giving to the arts from businesses' POV?   
     - Quality of life
     - Arts stimulate creative thinking
     - Arts events and organizations offer networking opportunities
     - Arts foster the acceptance of diversity
* How would businesses like to encourage the arts besides direct donations?
    - Providing free or discounted tickets 
    - Allowing employees to volunteer on company time
